Senior Program Requirements

Program Info

 

The Senior group offers a range of training services to high-school-aged and older swimmers.

Highly focused athletes with goals in the sectional, national and international arenas should enroll in one of the Elite practice groups. Swimmers enrolled in these groups should be prepared to meet the requirements and expectations listed below.

Athletes with goals at the state and high school level should enroll in the HS Development group, where they will swim workouts focused on creating strong, well rounded athletes. Coaches will work with athletes to create strong and efficent stroke technique and to develop a strong working knowledge of racing strategies and effective practice habits.

SENIOR 1
Attendance All offered/recommended practices, including dryland and morning workouts.
Skill Set Sectional and National level swimmers; proficiency in all four strokes; commitment to teammates and coaches; mental discipline.
Goals Improvement in all four strokes, development of skills necessary to qualify for national level meets and beyond including: intensity, determination, mental preparedness, etc.
Sample Sets 10x100 FR on 1:10 SCY/1:20 LCM; 6x400 FR on 4:40 SCY/5:30 LCM; 10x100 Kick on 1:30 SCY/1:45 LCM; 6x200 IM on 2:45 SCY/3:00 LCM
SENIOR 2
Attendance All offered/recommended practices, including dryland. Morning workouts on a regular basis are strongly recommended and required during some portions of the season.
Skill Set State level swimmers; proficency in all four strokes; long-term goals on the national level, short-term goals at the state/sectional level; willingness to train toward those goals.
Goals Improvement in all four strokes; development of skills necessary to achieve sectional standards and beyond.
Sample Sets 10x100 FR on 1:20 SCY/1:30 LCM; 10x100 Kick on 1:45 SCY/2:00 LCM; 6x200 IM on 3:00 SCY/ 3:15 LCM; 6x400 FR on 5:00 SCY/ 6:00 LCM
SENIOR 3
Attendance Minimum of 3 practices per week, 6 or more will be offered.
Skill Set Ability to complete workouts of 5000+ yard/meters; ability to swim all four competitive strokes. Swimmers will be divided by ability when necessary.
Goals Improvement in general and specific swimming skills including: all four competitive strokes, kicking, drilling, starts and turns, breathing, race strategy, etc.
