CW coach Kelton Graham was selected by USA Swimming to be
the head coach of the recent Central Zone USA Swimming Diversity
Select Camp. The camp was held in Indianapolis at the IUPUI
Natatorium in mid-June.
Kelton led a staff of 4 coaches. There were 33 swimmers
from all over the Central Zone who were selected to attend the
camp. The following are some comments by Kelton about the
camp:
My general thoughts were that this was a great experience for kids
who did not make the National Diversity Select Camp. I think
it really inspired them to keep pushing themselves and make new
friends in the process. The kids made a face book page and a
slide show. There were representatives from USA swimming
there along with a lot of club coaches who came with their
kids. The kids got to meet Byron Davis (African American
swimmer who missed the Olympic team by .03 of a second) and he gave
them all helpful advice about how to think positive and handle the
jitters before they raced.
