In an exciting race on the first night of competition CW Elite Team member Matt Patton won a silver medal in the 400 meter freestyle with a time of 3:51.25. He was just touched out by former CW swimmer Charlie Houchin.
On the second night CW swimmer Bobby Savulich took 6th place in the 100 free in 49.62. The race was won by Brazilian superstar Cesar Cielo in 47.84. Bobby came back later that evening to win a silver medal in the 4 x 100 free relay. The US quartet, which included former CW swimmer Chris Brady, went 3:15.62 and were second only to Brazil. Bobby had a blistering split of 48.33 which included going out in 22.75 seconds.
