High School Girls States Final & Prelim Results

Congratulations to all high school girls who swam in the state meets this weekend.  In Division 1, Ann Arbor Pioneer won the state title for the 9th consecutive year (Pioneer Head Coach Denny Hill is pictured at right hugging Val Barthelemy who placed first in the 200 IM and 100 Breast), Ann Arbor Huron took second, Novi third and Saline placed fourth.  

Ann Arbor Huron’s Coach Jenny Wilkening was named coach of the year and Pioneer senior Ashley Cohagen (see top photo below) was named swimmer of the year.  

Highlights include top-eight finishes and fantastic swims for many Club Wolverine swimmers in all divisions. Click on the links below for more details:



Jenny Wilkening, head coach of the Huron women’s swim team was name coach of the year.


Ashley Cohagen, below, a senior at Pioneer, placed first in the 100 back and 100 fly yesterday at finals and was awarded swimmer of the year.

The Saline High School Medley (pictured below, left to right going clockwise, Liz Willis, Sam Crichton, Lea Allen and Stephanie Boyle) relay broke the school’s varsity record at the state meet.



CW swimmer Rachel Johnson, 11th grade from Milford, (pictured below) won first place in the 500-free and 2nd place in the 200 free.  CW swimmer Lauren Seroka, a 9th grader from Salem, won 2nd place in the 500 free.
