Vanderkaay Swim Clinic Open to Swimmers & Parents 12/20/08

All Michigan Swimmers and parents are invited to attend a clinic hosted by Olympian Peter Vanderkaay and the OLY swim club on Dec. 20 at 12 p.m. The clinic is being held to honor a beloved Michigan Swimming Official, Mark Daniels, who died unexpectedly in October.  

The program, which requires advance registration online through the OLY swim club website, will give athletes and their families the opportunity to meet Peter Vanderkaay, a 2004 and 2008 Gold Medalist.  Peter will share his Olympic experiences and provide some tips from the pool.  Parents will also be able to meet with Peter’s parents.  There is a $10.00 admission fee and Peter has asked that all proceeds from the event be donated to the Mark Daniels Memorial Fund, which benefits Daniels’ wife and family.

Program Format

Peter will give a presentation to swimmers and parents that will include a short DVD of his experiences in the Olympics. The swimmers will then break into the pool area with Peter for a short Q&A session followed by some demonstration from Peter in the pool and some analysis by Oakland University coach Pete Hovland and Oakland Live Y’er coach Jeff Cooper.

While the swimmers are in the pool area with Peter, Mark and Robin Vanderkaay will meet with parents to discuss having high level high school aged swimmers in your family and preparation for college swimming. After the breakout sessions Peter will be available for pictures and autographs. Come join us for a great day centered around swimming.
