A
Lasting Memory
The
memory of Wolverine Aquatics Head Coach and former Olympian
Eric Namesnik, who died Wednesday, January 11, 2006, following
a tragic winter automobile accident, lives on in the many
young swimmers he shaped and in his friends and family in
the Ann Arbor community and around the world.
A
two-time Olympian and 400-IM specialist, "Snik"
captured silver medals in the 1996 and 1992 Olympic Games.
He held four American records in the 400-meter IM.
Before
taking the Head Coach role for Wolverine Aquatics in 2004,
Snik served as assistant coach to the University of Michigan
for seven years, helping to guide the Wolverines to several
Big 10 titles.
A
1993 Michigan graduate, Eric lived in the Ann Arbor area
with his wife, Kirsten, and their two young children, Austin
and Madison.
